Step 6 – Get Fast Results With Pay Per Click Advertising

Without a doubt, pay-per-click advertising is the fastest method available to create results for your marketing. Google’s site claims that their Google AdWords campaigns can deliver results in an amazing 15 minutes!

    In a nutshell, pay-per-click works this way. Large search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Overture generate millions of searches a month. They know that getting a top-ten rating on their search engine is hard, so they sell space on their search page for small ads to appear. Buying these ads lets you, the small advertiser, bypass the search engine ranking wars and have your ads appear right next to the “big dogs” free listings.
    Usually, there is no charge for your ad to appear, but you do pay the rate you agreed to pay every time someone clicks on your ad. Hence the name of “pay per click.”
    The amount you agree to pay for every click is called the bid amount.

Setting up with AdWords is fast and free. All you pay for are the actual clicks to your site, and you can even choose how much you can afford to pay per day.

Since you now know what product you will be promoting, choosing some good keywords should be easy.

    NOTE: The goal here is to make money, not to dominate the search engines or get a #1 listing in every keyword possible. Even if the best keywords to describe your product are very competitive, you should be able to generate traffic using pay-per-click.

Here are two tools to help you choose the right keywords. Use these tools to create a list of keywords, then use Google’s keyword tool, available to you after you create an AdWords account, to see what the current bid is for each word.

Good Keywords is software you download and use on your computer. It is free.

WordTracker is a service that helps you find even more keywords. They offer a free trial, which is what I recommend you use at this time.

Make a list of the top 20 keywords pertaining to the product you have chosen and see what Google charges for clicks on those keywords. Then decide how many clicks per day you want to pay for, establish your account, and get ready for the traffic to begin!

Here are a few tips on bidding and using pay-per-click on modest budget.

  • Be careful about how much you bid. If your budget is $100 or less, spend no more than half on pay per click in a two week period
  • Monitor your clicks very carefully. If you have received 100 clicks but made no sales, consider changing your ad or the keywords on which you are bidding.
  • Don’t use a mystery approach with your ad. When you are on a modest budget you must make every click count which means you want people clicking your ad because they are truly interested, not only curious.
  • Google is not the only pay-per-click search engine, but is the largest one that does not charge a fee or require a minimum to begin. As you grow and begin to earn profits, consider duplicating the success you have on Google, on Overture and other pay-per-click search engines.

Above all, be sure that you control how much you spend on pay-per-click by setting your maximum daily billing amount.

    Tip: There are many pay-per-click search engines that will offer you an incentive to try them. See our resource guide for a list but be aware of their terms before you begin! Few things are truly free and you don’t want to commit much needed monies just to try a small search engine that seems to be offering a “deal”.
